Velvet

Velvet is a soft, smooth textile with short, dense pile. It is created by weaving two layers of yarn together, then cutting the top yarns to create a velvety texture.

Although our selection mainly includes cotton velvets, it can also be woven from silk thread or synthetic fibers. Each offers its own characteristics:

  1. Cotton velvet is soft, breathable and comfortable. It is often used for casual wear and home decor items.
  2. Silk velvet is considered the most luxurious. It has a smooth and shiny texture, ideal for evening wear and high-quality accessories.
  3. Synthetic velvet (polyester, nylon or acrylic fibers) is durable, soft, wrinkle resistant and more affordable than other types of velour. It is commonly used in clothing, furnishings and decorative items.

Velvet is valued for its subtle sheen and soft texture. It is used in making clothes such as evening dresses, skirts, jackets, pants and suits. It is also used in interior decoration for curtains, cushions, rugs and upholstery.

There are different types of velor, such as corduroy with distinct lines, crushed velvet with a wrinkled look, and panne velvet with a shiny sheen. Velvet generally requires specific care, such as gentle hand washing or dry cleaning, to preserve its texture and beauty.
