The parrot rule or tracing pistol is a drawing instrument to trace curves. They are mainly used in two cases: When you create a pattern from a pattern guide. For a corsage, trace the emanchure through the 3 points defined by: the shoulder, the underside of the emanchure and the middle of the emanchure. When a pattern is adjusted: the new curves are traced after removing (or adding) the centimeters required for size and hips, for example.
