It can be decorated with patch pockets, slanted patch pockets, patch pockets with flaps or patch pockets with pleats and flaps. And depending on the fabric chosen (quilted, jacquard, gabardine, scraps of fabric for a patchwork effect or even wool), your Marcel jacket will take on very different looks (casual and relaxed jacket or coat, patchwork vest, safari jacket).

MATERIALS NEEDED

Fabric meterage in 140 cm width:

• Version without short button placket: 1.30 m from 34 to 44 – 1.70 m from 46 to 48
• Version without long button placket: 1.35 m from 34 to 44 – 1.75 m from 46 to 48
• Version with short button placket with collar: from 1.75 to 1.80 m from 34 to 48
• Version with long button placket with collar: from 1.80 to 1.85 m from 34 to 48
• Version with very long button placket with collar: from 1.85 to 1.90 m from 34 to 48
• Version with very long button placket with collar and belt: from 2.10 to 2.25 m from 34 to 48

Finishes:

• Version without button placket and with braiding only around the edge of the jacket and the bottom of the sleeves: 5 m of bias binding in a color matching your main fabric, 1 cm wide when folded in 4
• Version without button placket and if full binding (edge + bottom of sleeves + interior): 11 m of bias binding in color matching your main fabric, 1 cm wide once folded in 4
• Lining for the version without button placket: same quantity as for the main fabric
• Lining for the version with button placket: same quantity as for the main fabric – 5cm

5 buttons or snaps: They must match your main fabric and be approximately 2 cm in diameter for the buttons and approximately 1.5 cm in diameter for the snaps

Iron-on adhesive: 0.5 m

RECOMMENDED FABRIC

Quilted, jacquard, homemade patchwork, gabardine, thick jeans, thick cotton, wool or even boiled wool.

The Marcel jacket can be lined or not. For the lining, we recommend cotton or viscose, with an anti-static material for the sleeves (so that the jacket “slips” when putting it on).
